Reflection

Throughout my four years at FIU as a Global Learning Medallion student, I experienced so many different interdisciplinary and intercultural experiences that I cannot even begin to describe. My experiences have definitely changed the way in which I look at the world and the core of my educational background. All of the volunteering and teaching experiences I had have served to help me better understand how to educate others in a calm, patient, and nonjudgmental way. My direct activist experience through LGBTQIA+ Initiatives and the Women's Center have also helped me get a better understanding on how to frame sensitive issues in a way that can spur social change and engagement. I want to use these skills as well as my cultural competencies as a human rights activist and Foreign Servive Officer in the future. I am truly grateful for my experience being a Global Medallion Student at FIU. This program and the activities I did through it made my FIU experience actually memorable rather than miserable and that is always something to commend.
